I am wondering if there is a way to make it so an animal, aggro or domestic, can only climb certain slopes like characters. I have had issues in the past where I was standing next to a mountain and dismounted and my horse ran up the mountain faster than I could blink. We also have issues with a particular mountain in our region that is over populated with domestics but the mountain is so high that nobody can get up there. I feel it off-balances the animal count on the server if there are 50 non-obtainable animals in an area. Makes hunting rather difficult. Just a thought. Thanks for listening.

[22:10:37] A one foot wide shiny metal bowl, hammered thin. This is a supreme example of the item, with fine details and slick design. It is glowing from the heat. You need to temper the bowl by dipping it in water while it's hot. This supreme golden bowl can be used to create an altar, but it is also perfect for sacrificing animals, as required by certain missions! (Just drop it next to an animal and use the sacrificial knife on the creature (bowl must be blessed)) Starting bid: 1s Min increase: 20c Private bids: No. Snipe Protection: 1 hour .

Hey Everyone! This week brings less news, with today being the Summer Solstice public holiday in Sweden and it almost being the summer vacation period. As of next week, most developers will be on summer vacation, and so we won't have much formal development news to bring you for a few weeks. But don't worry - devs will still be on hand to solve any critical issues that could arise and to provide maintenance for servers, so other than there being not much dev news for a few weeks you won't notice a thing! If there's community news or any bits of dev stuff to report on then we'll do a news post, but we'll skip weeks for which there isn't much to talk about until devs are back from a well-deserved break. The reward of the summer will be a refreshed, ready to roll dev team for the next 12 months! When Autumn comes around, we'd like to start looking into the next "big feature" to start developing. Up until then, work on bugs and smaller things will continue. We don't have any "shiny" news from developers this week, but can confirm that Wox has been working away on pauldrons (shoulder armour) that will provide an optional way to spruce up your character's appearance, and that Rolf has begun looking into issues involving the collisions system, that have caused some quirks regarding doors, archery and catapulting. It will be a bit of a hassle to fix but will be a part of sorting out some issues that bridges and doors (amongst other things) have had recently. The Week in Patch Notes There was one maintenance restart earlier this week. At a glance, the most useful thing looks like bridge decay now working in a similar way to road decay offdeed - they won't require as much maintenance so long as they're used, making using bridges in highway design that bit more convenient. Fixes that apply to all servers are in black, to purely PvP servers in blue and to purely PvE servers in green. 16/6/15Changed bridge decay, so if its used the decay is reduced (a lot).Fix for some notake items suddenly being possible to take.Improved the newbie light a bit.More breeding timer tweaks.Infection in wounds were bugged and will now be a bit harder to get rid of.The spell Ward should make more creatures flee now.Walls no longer keeps their colors when set to plan or rubble. Niarja - Twitter Tracking & Skill Comparison If you haven't heard about Niarja, it's a new tool developed by Chakron that parses tweets from the official Wurm Online accounts in an organized and searchable format. This is useful for staying up to date on the status of rare, unique critters as well as the most recent deeds to be formed or disbanded. In addition, the new Skill Compare feature of Niarja allows you to view character skilldumps in a consistent and attractive format. Compare your skills with other characters if you so choose, and even help keep track of your skill gains. It looks like an exciting new tool and a big thanks to Chakron for developing it for use by all Wurmians! You can read more about Niarja and the Skill Compare feature and go directly to its website. Warlander's Ramp It might not be as epic as some of the other bridges we've highlighted, but we think it's a good example of just how versatile bridges can be when it comes to decorating in Wurm. Warlander created a simple ramp bridge up to the second story of a building. Small ramps like it make transporting materials to other floors of buildings possible. It goes to show you how bridges, big or small, have been an excellent and welcome addition to the game! Screenshot of the Week Our weekly screenshot was posted by Bachus and depicts the Indigus deed. Someone certainly had fun playing with color and dyeing objects! It's awesome how the rainbow arches down on top of the deed, almost as if it was the source of the colored buildings. There's a bridge in the background to boot! Did you know that you can unhitch individual animals from a wagon while mounted? Well now you do. Happy Wurming!

Credit to Huntar for the image! Okay guys and gals, time for week 2 of our flash auction sundays! It's simple - we have some fancy wares, and offer them all up in quick and simple auctions done live in the Deliverance K-Chat. We seem to be a little short on items to auction, so if you have something you want thrown in on the pile, please complete this form: http://goo.gl/forms/0L5WUAbHEc You will not send any items to the host selling it, we're just hosting an event! All proceeds from the auction sale goes to yourself. Please be aware that items can and will go for below market value, so be prepared to take a loss or please do not offer up a sale! Standard explanations of rules and procedures; The basic format is very simple; 3-5 minute auction starting when our host announces the start of the bidding. Bids start at 1c (unless otherwise stated by the host) You can raise each bid by however much you want, but you need to keep it to whole coppers, or more. 1 minute snipe protection. Now, for those of you that just went "snipe protection??", I'll explain it briefly; Snipe protection is a protection against "snipers", also known as bidders that get in at the last possible moment of an auction to just barely raise the price and get the item they want at a way better price than they would have gotten if they were in an open bidding war. The protection extends the auction timer by a pre-set amount, from the last bid. Example: [00:03:00] <HostA> Auction ends in 1 minute! [00:03:44] <JoeX> 37c! The auction now ends at [00:04:44] instead of [00:04:00]. This continues for every additional bid in the last minute. Disclaimer: Our host is the master/mistress of the court, and the auction officially ends when they says it does. This may lead to a little bit of extra time, but we reserve this right simply because making a show of it makes it more entertaining. Remember to be prepared to pay what you bid, or we will be forced to ban you from further participation in our auctions (you will simply be /ignore'd by the weeks host so your bidding cannot be seen). We reserve the right to announce that a player has failed to follow through. Mailing costs are paid by the buyer!

Now with players being able to "ascend" to "god" status, I would agree with this post title that the game is going overboard with religion. I think players should never have the ability to become added to the Wurm god-roll. This in my mind diminishes the power and status of the other Wurm gods. Although I don't follow any of the Wurm gods myself, mostly because of a stubborn independence that refuses to submit to any of them in return for their benefits/favors, I still don't like the idea that players can attain any of their status with this ascension process (whatever that actually is, since I have no interest in finding out anyway). I will just pay others who have interest in submitting to these gods for their services, since they seem happy to make some coins from their associations with them. But these new kid-gods on the block, I respect them even much less than the current ones. Well, maybe not at all, even. =Ayes=

I understand Proximo's point. Wurm get's under your skin in a way other games don't and anything like religion in the game can feel too real sometimes... and when your real life "views' differ radically from the game in can be uncomfortable, especially now with all the new gods. I never discussed exactly why I don't have any followers (anymore) or priests, or why I won't use enchantments(anymore) in the game or stuff like that.... the reason is because of my own real life "views" that are very different than 99% of most people. I never discussed it on these forums or in chat because the Wurm rules forbid it. It has been difficult to answer other Player's questions when they ask "why don't you have your characters as followers?" or "why won't you use enchantments?" but I tried to obey Wurm's rules against talking about real life religion. Some may have assumed my views on the economy and RMT in Wurm was my primary reasons why I refrain from some content, in fact those reasons are secondary and they flow from my real life "views". I will say this and then I am done in this thread... I have found a way to play Wurm in a selective way in regards to it's features so that can play and obey Rolf's rules of gameplay AND I also can satisfy other real life "authorities" in my life. If I can adapt to how to play Wurm to achieve a balance like this then I am confident that most people can find a balance as well. There is no "requirement" to play a Priest in Wurm as I see it.

Well, it's been fun. Niarja has been around since...at least 2015? I think a simplified version existed before then, but it's hard to remember now. I played Wurm at a very different time in my life. That's over now - I have no interest in the game, have no idea what's going on, and probably couldn't name a single developer if I tried. Niarja is very cheap to run (free) but there are still responsibilities such as performing security and backend upgrades on a regular basis. I've kept it running for 4-5 years past my "don't care" point, but I'm done now. I'm still very impressed by how many people have enjoyed the tool and talk about it on the forums or in the official Wurm Discord. It's going away, but I'm confident someone will be able to create a new and better version that has all the features I never bothered adding. All aspects of Niarja.com will shut down on October 1st, 2022. If you've used Niarja Skill Compare before, your "Manage Characters" page now contains a link to download all of your skill uploads into a single CSV file. Whatever tool exists in the future should be able to consume that file and get you caught up.

Maybe it's just the atheist in me that's being bothered like this, but what's the deal with the game being increasingly slanted toward religion? You can't even have a complete Wurm experience without being evangelized to and having "faith", and it's pretty much required you roll a Priest alt if you want to actually participate in the economy and be self sufficient. Now we're adding tons of new "gods" to the game. God this, god that, faith, prayer, sacrifices etc etc. I didn't know I was signing up to play an online religious simulator. When I first started playing Wurm it wasn't like this at all. Now priests are so powerful, it's almost impossible to ignore.

Free home, pics below. People have been asking in chat for any known & available coastal areas for deeding with some frequency lately, so I decided to build one for anyone that wants it. Ideally I'd prefer to pass it over to someone that 1) will deed it, 2) knows they will continue to play, 3) actually needs it (IE not someone's summer home~) If interested, PM me here or in-game — Nefretiti. (Guesstimated deed cost 6.5s, give or take.) Animals - 1 bull, 3 cows, 3 pigs (2 males, 1 fem), 3 sheep (1 male, 2 fems), and 1 4-speed horse (male)— sorry I don't have a spare females Location: (10min trip to nearby market) House: (Furnishings included / 2 bedroom)

I did this the other day, killed my 5 speed when trying to run to the rescue to help another player fight a spider. I couldn't uncheck him or get off, he died before I could stop the fighting. At least make it so you can't attack your own animal you on currently on. I understand the need to be able to kill another's horse while fighting on pvp, but not your own. Maybe make them transparent to us while mounted? I have to agree with this one.

I like the inclusion of religion if only because it's the only scrap of lore that the game has. But with that said, priests, champs, and gods all need to be reworked. In PvP, a priest isn't some optional support role. It's a requirement. They are the damage dealers and the healers and the buffers and the locaters all packed in one, and the only reason followers exist at all on these servers is to do the dirty work that the priest caste can't do for itself, like making their gear or building their villages. And on Freedom it seems that everyone and their dog has an army of priest alts, and it's just...why? In a sandbox game, there really shouldn't be any playstyles that are an absolute necessity, but it seems that that's where we're headed.

There is a great deal of superstition and rumor that surrounds many of the hidden mechanics in this game. The superstitions are so entrenched, that it takes hours of effort, dozens of dead-end theories, and insanely complicated mathematical proof to disprove what essentially took someone ten seconds to make up in a guessing game. As someone who spends a lot of his time disproving rumors like these, please stop making crap up. The most likely reason that you see more Rare Pickaxes than Butchering Knives and Rakes, is because people are spam making Pickaxes, and not Butchering Knives and Rakes.

Phobia mode is the greatest example of a Dev Team listening to the genuine need of a very small but loyal group of players and making a brilliant solution very quickly. Some people might feel gimped because the 'blobs' are so small - and that is true - but we're a LOT less gimped than we would be if we had no option to turn the spiders 'off'! Is it perfect? Maybe. maybe not. But there are much bigger matters for the team to deal with than the possibly slightly small blobs. Phobia mode is an absolute god-send, I for one am happy to be happy with it despite it being slightly harder. (It was me in Aeris' story, for those who don't already know...)

Sorry for being aggressive. I know many people don't like Wurm Online as it's. I don't want to start a fight with you. I"m just trying to tell you that just because you don't enjoy XYZ, doesn't mean others don't. And just because only 500 people might like it doesn't mean it has to be removed - if the game can do fine with 500 people and it fits within the plan. And you know the things I like, especially slow travel and first person and lack of information about things (unless you actively look), is really just about consequences. Like if you take a wrong turn and you die and lose 30 minutes. How much does that really add to the game? For me it's everything, but for others it can easily be seen as a negative. So I understand many or most players want a quicker less risky game and ther'es nothing really wrong with that. Hey maybe the reason I like these things is a mental disorder. So be it. But I definitely don't want to take the games away from you that you enjoy. If you're playing on a minecraft server; great! Have fun. I honestly wish you the best. If you just came from WoW and love that game; great! I could like that game if I tried. I don't want to change WoW. There're loads of sandbox games coming up. There're loads even as I write this. They all offer something a little different from the others. Maybe instead of just focusing all your hate on Wurm Online you should look at them. I didn't know about Wurm Online until maybe 2009 or 2010. I didn't actually play it until 2012. I had to look and I had to take the jump. I tend to agree. Teh more popular this game becomes, the less I'm going to like it. Why? Because there's a pattern with popular games. That pattern tends to be something I don't want in a game. Popular games have less consequences for bad choices. They're made to be playable by the most inept (or dumbest/laziest) players. They're generic. They're linear. They're more cartoony. Lots of voicovers. So I avoid it. That's why I started playing here and kept playing. I think this game is paradoxically more enjoyable early on and gets less enjoyable with time. Early on it's more about survival. It's more tense. You're actively learning loads of things. Later you have a strong settled area and everything is just too safe. New things trickle in. The bulk of your time is spent repairing/imping/smithing in the same place. Here're some things I liked about the game which aren't popular but nonetheless i like: 1) There was no in-game map when I started and even now it doesn't have GPS 2) No in-game radar which tells you where the creatures are 3) Slow travel times and different terrain movement, making being aware of the area you're in crucial to be optimal 4) First-person only; yes i think it's more immersive even though it's extremely unpopular 5) Thrown into the world with just some tools and you're not told exactly what to do and where/when 6) Ability to get trapped or lost and actually lose the stuff on your corpse; yes it's called consequences 7) An FFA PvP server where you can ultimately lose almost everything; again it's consequences 8) Early on, the wiki and tutorial made hte game feel homegrown; the opposite of big business clones 9) The graphics weren't cartoony The biggest difference is this game didn't lead you by the collar with quests or one-way roads. I'm also resigned in the knowledge this game will eventually be so mudflated and safe-ified I won't like it anymore. So whether I like it or not, it's going to do things I don't like. I've seen this with every MMO. So ultimately I lose this tug of war. I'm not saying Wurm Online is a great perfect game. I have many complaints and have made many posts about it. But because I have compaints doesn't mean I want this game to be a clone of WoW or Minecraft. We're all different and there's a small portion of players who don't wnat WoW or Minecraft or whatever is currently popular. When it's all said and done, I enjoyed Wurm Online so much I cannot even choose the right words to translate it. So no matter what happens in the future with me and Wurm Online, I know I had a blast the past 3 years. If the next year or two is hostile and I never come back again, at least those first 3 years will be preserved in memory. Those first 3 years killed everyting I knew before. My first and favorite MMO's were EQ and UO. They pale in comparison.

I'm an atheist, im not the slight bit bothered by it, especially considering the game has had lore religions as a focus for a lot of things, and the epic PMR has been in the line for years now. Not sure why its suddenly an issue, especially considering priests have always been prevalent and powerful. I cant mention much about the economy, as ive always played on PvP servers, where everything is always free, so...
  32. 1 point
Since priests are already very limited in their capabilities (which is fine I'm not asking to let priests craft lol) it seems a little harsh and excessive to also nerf their gains for body and mind, yes supposedly soul skills are all the jazz for priests but already being limited to one (or two in Libs case) resource gathering skills makes gaining even less characteristics for that one (or two) so much more painful than seems right.

So I think one of the worst times I can recall in Wurm, was when I realized that I accidentally (look I blame lag ok) started attacking my prized 5 speed horse while I was riding it. Before I could figure out what to do, I had murdered it! And now it's just happened to a good friend who I brought into the game. For her it was a most....sad and upsetting experience. Now I know things like this happen. And horses are pretty cheap these days. But I put it to you of the Wurm community: Is there a reason why we can attack animals that we're riding? It seems like there's no legitimate reason why you would WANT to kill an amimal you were currently riding. Personally I would like this 'feature' removed. But I want to hear everyone's thoughts on this. Surely I can't be the only one this has happened to....well I hope not lol.

My guess is that they will want to wait on the new graphics engine to test what it can handle. But I would like to see a lot of customization through dyes. You could use the current alchemy items (woad etc) PLUS add flowers PLUS mushrooms, since both are medieval sources of dyes and that opens up more options. Skilled dyers would still maybe be needed to blend colors away from the "basics" flowers: white blue purple orange-red greenish-yellow (pink polka dot rare!) mushrooms: black green yellow blue brown red One group could be delicate low saturation or earthtones and be allowable on things like armor: another group could be "bold" but only usable on things like clothing

You don't like fantasy in your fantasy game? You are odd. Also, seeing as how the ingame gods are completely false and no-one is trying to claim they are actual real gods, I fail to see how this would bother an atheist. I mean, a world where everyone knows that "gods" are false sounds like an athiests wet dream.

Being playing from 2012, I have only one main account and is not a priest, the only function so far for my alts is banking some stuff I don't need to have in my inventory, but i don't want to leave around to decay. These are generally only useful if you have a game with a recurring subscription that auto bills you monthly. Those situations, you have to do a specific action to "end" the game, thus prompting an exit survey to pop up. In wurm, you sell off your stuff and simply walk away. Great suggestion, but no practical way to impliment, other than setting up an "iquitwurm@wurmonline.com" email address and advertising it in the client and on forums.

Considering the fact these Gods are global as in any kingdom can become one, why is it restricted to priesthood at a single light? Anyone can do their missions sometimes if the kingdom has enough. I don't care so much that the players themselves come from a certain WL/BL kingdom, but it makes no sense we can all follow a God regardless of kingdom yet only become a priest at a certain light. Can we just make it so you can change religions/priest for any the new Gods at both BL and WL?

I know its a bit much for this suggestion but while we discuss boats I figured I'd add the idea I was batting around at work today. Boat specialization: Give each boat a size category and make it either cargo or passenger focused. Makes each boat unique and gives a reason to try and make/use one of the larger more complex ships. *The barge is the name I decided to use to refer to the ship we discussed in this thread **These values are obviously up for discussion but give a good outline of the point I'm trying to make.

In addition to the OP suggestion -- a poor man's version Update the current RAFTS: You can now embark and steer a RAFT. It holds only ONE person Cargo capacity is increased, instead of a small cart capacity (like a rowboat) it holds a LARGE cart capacity It is 85% speed of a rowboat Non premiums can use You must EQUIP AN OAR in weapon slot (two handed) to power/steer a raft. YOu are able to carry an empty raft from your house to the water (weighs 80 pounds if I recall) so it benefits people without port access Need to be able to add a padlock and get same MANAGE menu as a rowboat. No anchors. Push/pull/drag ashore to keep the current from setting it adrift. Rafts are not so useful now due to CRATES and this would make them again useful.

I have to disagree with you on this... I no way any of the maps are even close to capacity. Having low numbers results in stuff like "Where's RedBaron today?" The problem, though, is not really lack of advertising... Problem is Wurm isn't really up-to-date. Devs have put up some efforts on that front (craft window, the select bar, etc), but its simply not enough. The game is still by far too aggressive and hard to start. Even people that get a head start by joining deeds will sooner or later reach a point where its more frustrating than appealing. Its not really graphics though, there's a ton of "retro" games with way worse graphics than Wurm, WoW only recently got a big graphics overhaul but never really stopped being popular. The problem is that unlike most Sandboxes Wurm is MMO, and open world, meaning there's competition between players on an extended period of time, and as such the devs decided to balance that by making things extremely slow, which turns the game into a dull, mind-numbing grindfest. That's pretty much the issue: Wurm has one of the worse cases of grind mentailty i've ever seen and i've played Asian F2P MMOs from the early 2000's. I mean back then it was common for many games to force you to grind for a month, no quests to get a level at mid-high level ranges. But that paradigm as shifted by a lot, and people usually will require more in-depth mechanics but at the same time, more instant gratification. And that, gentleman, isn't Wurm at all... I mean Wurm is like weeks of repetitive grind for a 30 seconds "Yay i'm lvl 10above what i started 3 weeks ago". Then you might make a new weapon and go hunt for a couple of days, but then you think you need enchants, so you grind for silver for the enchants, or you go and grind a priest to have the enchants yourself. Then you think the weapon would be cooler at +10Ql than current, then you need that armor, so lets grind Plate... And so on... And each new objective and bit of accomplishment is preceded with intense long periods of dullness. And that's what leaves people behind. Wanna make a castle, great, now you just need 5000 bricks and 5000 mortar, which means you'll need to mine for a few hours, then dig for a few hours, then spend 2-3 times that time again crafting the materials, then another god knows how long making the outer shell of the castle, then you need floors, roofs, then furnishing and decorations, and you finish with something that looks good in Wurm, but by then you'd have done a replica of Minas Tirith in Minecraft. Sure some people will stick around, but those are few and too far between. Basically Wurm is slowly dying, because unlike Tazinsky says, people don't stick forever, there's more than a few cases of people who played for years that up and reached their point of no return and simply quit. I'm one of those, although i'm still hanging by, cause i really like the stuff i did in Wurm, and its kind of sad to let go.

Runpot was my bro. We delivered the finest wemp across Indy... until one day, he and I ran into a pack of 23 wolves. My buddy dropped in less than 10 seconds. Enraged, I slaughtered all 23 without stopping to bandage. Butchering my friend, I ate his meat for the next week and mummified his other remains (giftwrapped them). I've kept them in a small chest in my house for like 5 years now. Aeris (the corpse artist) thinks it's creepy of me.
