Suggestion to add a larger version forge that takes 3 or 4 times the materials of a forge to make. It should also be graphically much larger than a forge to give forges a use in decorating homes. Make it medium->hard to start to build (30-40 skill?). Allow it to smelt 50 to 100 ore at the same time. Preferably more than less. (this is the BIG point in this). Please. -------- UPDATE: To outline what I've gotten out of the suggested improvements stated in this thread, - The smelter takes 30 to 40 skill to start and continue. - Serious amount of materials to build, up to 5 or 10 times the regular forge just to not make them mass produced. - 100 ores fit in it. - One per tile. - Graphically large. - Burns a lot of wood quickly. Some suggest up to a full 100 kg tree to fuel it completely. - Smelting time quality dependent, just as forges. Faster the higher the quality is.

this just the same thing like before, just worded less harshly. If you feel like you have to push the community to push Rolf out of HIS game, how about you go make your own game and look in mirror if you don't think the game as sort of your own child?

Same way you create a skilldump, I believe it would help merchants keep their stock updated in forums if they could right click -> dump a container ( forge , bin etc ) and get a text file with the results.

This. Especially on Chaos. There are literally hundreds of us on Freedom with the stats to bring something to the PvP party. Even if we're just sitting behind dirtwalls all day churning out the armour and enchants so that the frontline fighters can take greater risks. What's going to increase PvP more: a change that mean the current handful of players fight each other a bit more often, or a change that would persuade a couple of hundred Freedomers to take the plunge and join in? Cutting 90% of the Wurm population out of the conversation is foolish; we have the power to transform Wurm PvP just by turning up, and you don't want to hear what we have to say? Your loss.

New players are what is keeping this game together and continue to shape it, not those that left 6 years ago... Not all the new players are just throwing money at wurm either, a lot of US new players spend a huge amount of time in game helping others get started and come to terms with game mechanics. Posting on a forum 6 years after last playing wurm is compleatly pointless in the terms of being productive no wonder they were received by active community members this way. Some people just never get over there little problems I guess. The reception of older players defending broken game mechanics 12 months ago was dumbfounding let alone 6 years, being told by some of these "old-timers" don't let the door hit you on the way out is a joke. 6 yo+ players must have been very small minded to think the way your telling us, they walked out on a game the loved so much at the hopes some one else will fix it so they can come back? ROFLMAO

Because quotes break when editing @Battlepaw Easymode? Right, I can't actually remember when I died on Chaos when i didn't want to. It is EASY to just tap your farwalker ammy to go into your gatehouse onto your s20 deed with max guards and hide in a minehop, thats all pvp is on Chaos. Also, protunia. stop posting, you don't even play on epic, you don't play on chaos, you have no intention of playing there, you never have and you make simply unrealistic suggestions because you want realism in a fantasy world. @Great Helm Change It's ridiculous. I still remember the time i had a 95QL rare great helm on at HOTA on Solarblade and jaycz popped me in the ###### eye and i went from healthy to 8-10% from bleeding through a greathelm. Asking to take it off is suicide for sure.

One thing I love about how they've dealt with irritation regarding server downtime is that a lot of people become happy when the server crashes. I know I get that tingly feeling in my gut knowing that I may log in at some point and find a full bar of SB. This was a genius move on Rolf's part. GJ. Granted, no one wants to see Wurm down for more than a few hours, but the reward for our irritation is most definitely worth it. Hehe. Thanks, Rolf!

I have to apologize for the servers coming down. I reached 90 in 2h sword skill 20 sec before the crash. Apparently the servers couldnt handle my new level of Awesome.
  12. 3 points
Ew, that's a bad idea. I really hope Rolf takes a serious look at these kind of problems before implementing the changes.

I tested for a couple more hours today and really still believe there is nowhere near enough difference between the fighting styles; in general I think we should aim for the below with all fighting stances doing the same damage - so the only difference is the amount of effort you put into either defending or attacking: Aggressive Attack: 75% Defense: 25% Normal Attack: 50% Defense: 50% Defensive Attack: 25% Defense: 75% As I mentioned earlier I strongly believe that defensive shouldn't be something you use if you want to kill someone; it should be used for survivability and taking the heat off other people and it completely fails to do that right now since it's only slightly better than normal if at all at defending. When you switch fighting styles it should immediately be obvious however right now if the game didn't tell you what stance you are in chances are you wouldn't even notice the difference. Other: * Dual wielding in aggressive should result in the lefthand swinging just as much as the right hand instead of the circa 10% it does now (dual wielding is useless atm) * Shields should do essentially nothing in aggressive; the idea I'm proposing is that shields are reserved for defensive and normal fighters * Shield bashing effectiveness should follow the same; getting shield bashed in defensive shouldn't be too much of a problem but it should be a huge problem if you are in aggressive * Short sword should be 1sec or at least 0.5sec faster than Small maul as they currently have the same swing timer yet small maul does much greater damage * Glimmersteel currently has no effect on shortsword, small maul and I guess small axe since they are 3sec swings by default; this is rather unbalanced because a glimmer longsword will swing the same speed as a glimmer small maul; I think small weapons should get a buff from glimmersteel too although 1sec might be too much, 0.5sec quicker might be good. * The change where you can't use a great helm while using archery isn't a good one; there is a option to aim at the face when you get decent archery skill and since the dude you shoot won't have a shield on nor a helmet if you got 2-3 archers shooting at him at once with height bonus he is gonna drop basically instantly; eye shots with height bonus from a good archer with enchanted arrows will literally kill you in one hit but failing that 2 hits. * Can we tone down the amount of damage shields take? They are just as slow as weapons to improve and chew through lump like nothing else yet are usually completely trashed even after one decent fight.

Perhaps the reason Rolf posted this in the city hall, instead of on the pvp forums, was because he was hoping to get insight from those who do not currently pvp as to what would make them interested in doing so. If you truly want to increase pvp, then increasing the number of players who participate is generally considered a good idea, and if you want to look at ways to encourage more people to pvp, then you also need to understand why people currently do not. If you exclude people who do not currently pvp, then you have no idea as to why they don't participate, and you cannot properly make changes that will encourage them to try it.

I can see where this game might cause issues with one's life. Hell, my wife and I currently spend the vast majority of our free time playing Wurm and we also spend the vast majority of our extra money on Wurm - upkeep, premium time, and new deeds. So, for being able to let the game go is a feat in and of itself; for that, I congratulate you. To the others bashing this guy -- go somewhere else ya' trolls. It is because of people like you that forum communities turn into cesspools that no one but other trolls wish to visit. I'm sure back in Malv's days, the majority of people were more tight-knit and helpful. Granted, most players I run across are willing to help out, but I'm sure the game, and the community it created back in the day, were a lot more of a 'community'. So, I say congratulations, and perhaps at some point in the future you can find away to moderate your game-play and return. Until then, good luck to you.

As one of the people who fought hardest to get phobia mode implemented I remember Wox saying that blobs were supposed to be tiny in order to not give any advantage. What I just wish for was if they fixed the blobs from hiding under the terrain.....its only been like 2 years now.

Dear Dev team, is it possible to tweak the code of large, small, and round table to make it openable? Then, after dropping some (pre-defined) ammount of food items their model would appear on that table. upd: items would be stackable. So if you drop 10 cakes it would result as 1 model. Same for meal, casserote and others.

I can think of all kinds of ways to create a fallback point. Double layer of doors to go in the mine, a nice shaker orb right when you enter the mine, a mine you go in then exit another mine door at the back, a safe lots of room for strategy here and more room for trapping. Lots and lots more but I won't share my best, use your brain!

I love how the stances are taking different steps a bit more, Gavins post makes it sound a lot better. I am still saddened not to see shield bashing requiring aggressive stance and a counter by playing in defensive. Give us tools that allow us to have 'player skill' rather than a RNG 'number skill'. I feel the guard changes should only have had 1 change (less chance to target horses), making them slower makes them pretty pointless. Their speed sometimes forced players to stop and clear a tower before advancing on causing a hindrance, which is supposed to be the point.

I don't get the argument that its good for Epic but not Chaos. You choose to live on a map where you travel for an hour plus to get to an enemy You choose to risk your life, why should you be able to hop in a mine, popping in and out for a few seconds.. staying alive with the 5kg of cotton you have tucked in your inventory. That isn't PvP, thats practically PvE - you hopping outside your house as a nogump chills outside your door, getting a hit in and backing up before your dead. I think the real reason why Wild people don't like this change is that it risks their special armor and weapons a helluva lot more. Epic has them too, we use them in fights and don't complain when we use them and lose them. Honestly, if you hide on deed after this update - you can't even consider yourself a fighter, just an opportunist. "Oh I have no means of escape even though I'm very far away from my home" Damn straight thats how it should be, not stupid minedoors hidden everywhere for safety.

I am not to weak for anything but for the new players that depend on the guard towers this might not be good so wanted to make sure the developers took that in to consideration. ( i can solo champion trolls i am fine)

Reading the first bit and it all sounds really good except this: The second you step off deed you now have ZERO security; I don't think this is going to convince players to roam about; if anything the opposite. Yeah mine door hopping is lame and something should probably change with it but put yourself in the enemies shoes if you had no security would you even minehop? Lame PvP is probably better than no PvP. I'll test the armor first before commenting about it.

The other option is instead of imping one very fast is to be able to imp a batch in one go. Combine arrows into an arrow bundle. Imp the arrow bundle, when done split the arrow bundle. Rolf can tune how strong this is by limiting the number of arrows in a bundle.

I am the mayor of a large deed, so what do you say? "She has huuuge tracts of land." ~ Monty Python Holy Grail You're welcome to climb my tower any time... storm the ramparts... etc I hear you have some fantastic tools. The general idea of more freedom type options is very good. Fatigue is a nice one, but I only hit that once in my entire playthrough of wurm (4years now) while mining. SB I wouldnt mind.. But some other stuff like an "Aura of Fo" or something (to let all agros ignore you for 5 minutes) or "Footing of Magranon" (to take away fall damage for 5 minutes) or other harmless PvE/Freedom type of stuff would be nice

Congrats, the Mindoor fix is probably the worst Ideal there. Your ideal of fixing pvp is to take away a spot where people feel safe. Taking their one spot of safety away will discourage pvp. This being a promotion to pvp sounds terrible. -1

Not testing, but just looking at the tables and posts i can see a couple flaws: 1- Cloth is way too overpowered, it has overall more defensive points than studded leather. Check your balance please. I'd suggest, as a easy way, to give all armors a tier. IE: Tier I- Cloth and Leather Armor Tier II- Chain, Studded, and Ring Tier III- Drake, Splint and Scale Tier IV- Plate and Dragon Scale Then award each tier a pool of defense points (like 250 Tier I, 300 for Tier II, etc.) THEN distribute the points across however you see fit from within that pool. As it is, Cloth has more points than studded armor (280 cloth vs 245 leather) I mean, are you trying to convince me that normal cloth has more piercing and slashing resistance than leather? Then why the hell do people wore thick leather (pig skin) work gloves before the introduction of modern materials? Also, don't make guards slower, or at least only on PvP. Stop making PVE suffer from PvP balances. For many starting players getting a guard quick can mean the difference between having to heal a couple wounds and having to do a sometimes impossible (because they can't locate where they were) trip back from the starter town.
