The main reason points were added in the first place is because champs are supposed to get out and PvP - but many were just crafter casters. This change would revert the necessity to get out and PvP. If you want the perks of priesthood AND the ability to craft, you need to continually work for it and game design is that they're there to fight. I'm not saying the current system is perfect, but this change would not help.

CHAOS ONLY Been thinking about champing and how it works recently and i'd LOVE to see some changes to the system because champs are hardly used at all at the moment. Current system Currently how it works is that there is a point system where if you get a kill on someone over 50fs, a drain on a deed with 5 or more guards, if you cap a tower, or if you cap a battle camp you get 1 champ point. 1 champ point basically equates to 1 day of champ hood. You start with 10, you lose 15 on death and you can have a maximum of 30. You can only have 3 champs per kingdom, BL being the exception. When you lose champ hood you lose all the perks you gained (50+ to all religion skills, 5 stats across the board, and you are put back to 50faith). You also lose 1 stat across the board when you dechamp. Flaws to the current system The current system isnt used at the moment (imo) because of the point system. It basically requires you to log in every day and pvp. It makes it so you NEED to play, where as most players will pvp every so often. What was a good system has now turned into a chore which you have to do every day in order to keep champ hood. PvP is not something which happens every day, hence why people will not usually champ because you are almost certain to lose champ hood sooner or later. My proposal I propose that we get rid of the point system entirely. Make it so you can have 3 champ per kingdom (Yes BL included because lets face it 6 champs is op) and make it so if you die, you lose champ hood and cannot have it for another year. When you lose champ hood, you loose all the perks you gained, and you lose 1 stat across the board (like what happens now). Add in dueling rings for champs so that champs who are not wanted by the kingdom can be kicked off. And the leaders of PMK's should be able to kick theirs as an alternative. Perks of the proposed system We will get the casters back who used champs to get good casts. We'll have champs back which added diversity to the PvP servers. Champs will actually be used by all kingdoms! The problem with the system before was that there was no limit on the amount of champs you could have, where as with 3 champs per kingdom it'll be balanced.

I think the points system is useful to prevent casting champions, however I feel that the small 2 week window and the difficulty in obtaining points on chaos prevents players from champing. You start out with 15 champion points. - Change this to 30 Points 1 point is removed every day. You can have max 30 points. - Change this to 60 Points You gain 3 points for draining an enemy deed with 5+ guards. - Apply scale on number of guards to points, As a poor example[ 1 guard - 1 point, 5 guards - 5 points, 50 guards - 50 points] You gain 5 points for being involved in a kill on an enemy champion. - 10 Points instead of 5, bascailly stealing the points from the champion killed. You lose 10 points if you die for whatever reason. - Creates the 3 deaths and no champion scenario still. You gain 1 point when you are involved in a kill on an enemy with 50+ fight skill. You may gain a point like this 1 time per day from the same player, 10 times total from any one player - Increase this on a scale of fs as a bad example [50fs - 1 point, 60fs - 2 points, 70fs - 3 points, 80fs - 4 points, 90fs - 5 points] Think those changes might be beneficial. Though I wonder what peoples opinions on them are. Edit: Colours Edit#2: Voted Yes/No for reasons above. I feel it should change but not as the OT describes

The Truth About Dragon Fang Mountain Recently an expedition of three unnamed persons set out to climb to the top of Dragon Fang mountain. (The highest peak on the Independence server). Their goal, reach the top and plant a sign up there for all passersby to see. At first their trek was an easy one, deciding to ascend the NW facing. They followed the path blazed by many a Wurmian. Then it happened. Once their journey took them passed the first ring, they noticed something just wasn't right. A foul odour unknown to them began to permeate the air. Their climbing gear was becoming increasingly less effective. The consistency of the statuesque mountain seemed to be changing ever so slightly. One of the three in the party had had enough and turned around and headed for home. The other two however, trudged on. Soon, the couple found their footwear was hampering the climb... so off came the boots. Their bare feet seemed to mold directly into Dragon Fang with each step. This went on for metre after metre until one of the two remaining two climbers panicked and decided he couldn't take it anymore, and began his descent. As the last anonymous climber slowly continued despite the fog, he could barely make out the peak of DF not too far in the distance. With great determination our hero trudged to the top. What was this he saw? A sign out of no where appeared between waves of fog. A sign that read, "Eladia's discarded cheese pile".

Given all the conversations lately regarding the Impalong, I figured we would throw this out there once again to serve as the proverbial fly in the ointment. Available for immediate occupancy we have the deed called Festival Cove, or what is more commonly referred to as the Independence Impalong site. Situated on the shore directly south of the Howl at 44y 31x, it's storied history includes hosting some of the most significant community events to have occurred on Freedom since its inception - Willow's famous Christmas Impalong. This purpose built site was created specifically to host the impalong events, and includes a massive forge house with high quality forges and many convenient bins and tubs, an all-denominational church with high quality altars, a cookhouse, a spacious bunkhouse, a fishing derby building, various craft houses, well maintained mines, and the incredibly breathtaking Festival Cove Lighthouse. Just past the western walls you will find a series of commemorative colossi, a large off deed area that can accomodate bulk farming, the famed but now slightly dilapitated Festival Games area, and a Wurmian sized checker board directly to the south of it (off deed but fenced and gated). It would be impossible to sufficiently describe the splendor of this deed, but for the hundreds of players who have visited, worked, and played there it looms large in our memories. For the past few years, Willow and her indentured servants have spent countless hours preparing and supporting the Christmas Impalongs, and in 2012 she announced her retirement from the festival business. This site is conveniently located with easy access to the entire Independence server, and obviously would be a great location for hosting large scale community events, such as those that involve Imping and rhyme ever so slightly with gong. It would also serve well as a trading port, nudist colony, mobile home park, or secret military experimentation base. The specific 'specifics' are: The size of Festival Cove is 31 by 29. The perimeter is 5 and it has 0 guards hired. The settlement has 12 silver, 14 copper and 33 iron in its coffers. The monthly cost is 1 silver, 79 copper and 80 iron. The upkeep will last approximately 189 days, 2 hours and 32 minutes more. Festival Cove has a resident trader, lots of closet space, recently installed hard wood and imported tile floors, and great views of the surrounding countryside. Depending on what your draw distance is set to of course. It even boasts it's very own sunken pirate ship. How cool is that! Auction winner will receive all the keys, writs, and electricity bills, as well as the various odds and ends scattered about the many buildings, including dozens of forges and bins and barrels oh my, and several thousand pumpkins for good measure. Upon a successful transaction, all of the Trapped Men of Festival Cove shall be released back into the wild. There is no reserve on this to be perfectly honest, as value in Wurm is truly in the eye of the beholder as they say. Or is that the eye of Cthulu? Never can keep those things straight. At any rate, reasonable offers are always reasonable, and even if you don't want to host large community events its a pretty nice location for the handy remodeling types. Given the resident trader we should probably dispense with any bids much lower than 50s, but I do have an affinity in cookies and hats if you feel like bartering, Auction will run for the next two weeks (using the timestamp of this post as a starting point) and will end earlier if Willow tells me to end it or when that "offer we can't refuse" gets slipped under the door. Various photos of the site: One hour sniper protection (per bidder request) added, extending auction by two hours in order to enforce.

I don't know what to say. I am not a writer nor a poet so bare with me......I have been struggling on how to inform the friends of Joxia that she has passed. Most of you do not know who she was but for the ones that did know her, she would want me to tell you that she will miss you all. After introducing her to Wurm she wouldn't stop talking about it. She really enjoyed chatting with you guys and really wanted to spend more time in game. However she could not do that due to an infection she got from a scrap on the leg when shaving. After 10 short years of my life with her I would like to thank you all for helping me put a smile on her face. Thank you. I would like to thank Rolf and the dev team for creating a game that she really enjoyed playing. I always laughed whenever she yelp when a spider would sneak up on her. Please remember that your hard work does affect others and the people around them. The game helped her out through some hard times and I will always remember that. Thanks again. Here is a pic of her father and brother recieving her to take back to her final resting place.

I've seen people say that they would like a "repeat last action" hotkey - myself included. I think a really cool option to try implementing this in a more immersive way would be to try designing one or two partial automation machines. They should all have relatively high requirements to build, so that everyone has to have at least cut their teeth on mass production by hand. Wood Plane Requisite skills: 40 carpentry, 20 stone cutting (to create the stone blade) Possibility: mechanics or engineering skill to build and operate machines? Required Materials: 80 wood planks, 20 stone bricks, 40 pegs (never understood why only used in shipbuilding, medieval world utilized wooden pegs for everything!) 10 wooden shafts, 10 large nails. Now, deep breath, no one freak out! The way they work: These machines are containers. The wood plane, for instance, will accept logs as input, up to a certain weight/volume. The purpose of implementation into our game is to save insane amounts of tedious clicking aimed at advanced players, but we also don't want to turn this into easymode to retain the essence of Wurm. So once your wood plane is loaded with logs you right click and hit "plane wood planks" at which point a long action timer (think "level" - maybe 5 minutes) at which point the logs in the plane are gradually converted to planks (again, much the way level produces dirt over time, draining stamina slower than a standard "dig") but ending prematurely when you run out of stamina. That's it! Not too painful right?! And there is a ton of room for more complexities if the idea is well received. Imagine a wood plane that breaks blades after a few hundred planks, cut faster or last longer based on the QL of the blade used each time, etc. I also think this idea would work well for brick machines and mortar mixers that take rock shards and clay + sand as inputs, respectively.

Just for good measure these are examples of things WAR desires: house teleport tiles, magical golem mounts, ethereal pocket ponies, player built teleport shrines that we can use to travel (cart included) to any other shrine , A NIGHT SIGHT SPELL enchanted on jewelry and remove all limits on building. The things I listed in the previous post limit game enjoyment and WAR does not endorse such things just because they may not make sense.

Maybe it would be cool if it only blocked physical damage and didn't do anything to magical damage. So if you hit someone for 10dmg and do an additional 10% magic damage (FA, RT, LT, etc) it would be 5dmg + the full magic damage whatever that maybe.

    Remove alliance ability period.
  30. 1 point
Thats a good point actually, there should definitely be an alliance cool down something along the lines of "You are too untrustworthy at the moment, no one will alliance with you." as a message when you try to alliance.
  31. 1 point
I don't think there should be any kingdom alliances at all since it'll just be abused for titles for those who can afford it.
  32. 1 point
Personally from an EPIC view, kingdom alliances don't usually last a long time, mostly are just there for joint raided etc but i have no problems with improvements. Only thing that really bothers me is that BL still can't make pmk's and the cooldown for alliance should be atleast 1 week (no idea if this got changed or not)

Why is it like this? Because the game wouldn't be Wurm without the frustrating inconsistencies and mechanics. Some others are: * You can manipulate any tile type you want, providing you have high digging.... except marsh. You can't flatten it, level it, flatraise it, etc.... because, you know, marsh is such an important tile type that must be protected. * You can carry all the mats needed to make certain items, you can carry the unfinished item before it's completion, but you can't pick them up after you've made them (beds, lrg barrels and tubs, etc). * You can dig/drop dirt on a paved slope, but no more than a 20 slope.... because anything more than 20 is definitely "griefing". Paving underwater is also disabled, so forget about any plans to pave the side walls of your pier. * Build a house ANYWHERE you want.... but not on previously paved tiles. * You can build a 1 storey building on your perimeter's edge that meets another player's perimeter. You can even repair all the walls of the first floor. Second or any additional floor? No soup for you. Your neighbors perimeter "doesn't allow such actions". * You can shoot an arrow over a low stone wall, but forget about parapets. * You will consume water when improving metal and cloth objects... clay item improvements won't consume any of your water. * You can dig the surface layer down to rock. You may even be able to tunnel through that rock tile, provided the slope isn't too steep. After tunneling through, you will find that the slope is probably still too steep to cover with a mine door. There are plenty more, but i'm not trying to write a novel's worth in one post.

Surely this is a good reason as to why we do need a trailer with more emphasis on PVP? If there's an area with lots of room for expansion (the PVP servers), we should really be working on it.

Someone suggested this in the past and even wrote out ideas for 4 or 5 different examine messages for the different fill levels. Would be nice to have, though as filling only uses as much fuel as it needs (and that's not very much) I don't see it as an urgent addition.
  43. 1 point
Nothing wrong with the idea, maybe a bit unneeded but thats probably personal preference. But as mentioned by others, with Wurms current Framework, as in, being extremly prone to bugs, its probably not a good idea to re-implement this. Which is sad though, cant say it often enough, the game needs quality control (dedicated bug fixing) badly, just removing things because its buggy isnt the way to go.

"Who said an undead have to choose Libila? Bonegetter stand to be different as this skeleton practices with his Fo spells in a marsh of Independence." A drawing commission I did for Bonegetter which I has been slacking for sometime due can't find idea that I feel good to work with.. glad to see at last I managed to finish it. Originally the request was a skeleton wearing apron that conduct business of making pottery items and selling bricks with a caravel, after sometime past Bone thinks he could have different occupation and so here he is as Fo Priest. No stock photos been used for this one, I have a new toy called daz3d to arrange human models and pose them as I want. Excitingly this means I can draw humans without having to look on others' copyright and limitations of it. WIP stuffs: Early thumbnail draft with the skeleton who do potteries. More draft... still not satisfied What I am thinking here is a druid in a swamp. Swamp is putrid but also full of life, which symbolize well with undead and fo. Making some lineart to help with detailing the foreground. Basic mood of the whole picture, I just set up 'hue and colorize' on the picture. Also start coloring the crocodiles. Painted colors over the green mood. The whole scene reminds me to 'princess mononoke', can't help that I think I put that stag on background because I subconsciously think of it. And then even more details I have been watching to apply the lighting on this since Wox says I need to study more of lighting. "Starting as enemies from different Kingdoms, Xallo and Alyeska know each other out of curiosity. A few hunts together later, their love has grown to the point to where nobody can stop it. Now, they ride the battlefield, together, as fighters of the Kingdom of Jenn Kellon." A drawing commission I did for Xallo and Alyeska. Initially the request was to draw them on theirs Independence deed but they changed theirs mind (before I draw anything). The whole thing has been challenging due to the amount of important things to include like oversized champion crocodile named Chompy, hellhorses, etc and so undergo many different thumbnail sketches or just being put aside for days if not weeks. Last iteration was trying to put my interpreptation of Kyara (fortress with ridge-like walls, corner towers shaped as dragons, and buildings that grow taller the nearer they into the center with centerpiece of a tower with big dragon statue on top)but decides to discard the idea due it grows distracting from the centerpiece. This one final version start as photo-collages I throw together to see composition and get a proper humans anatomy (I'm very bad at drawing humans so I always need at least a sample to copy for this)before drawing on top of it. While most of the drawing is manually colored, a few textures are used here and there to give more depth and colors. Love how it turns out, this probably the current best artwork I have made. I hope it is ok to slap wurm online logo there... Horses and riders model by Syccas Stock WIP stuffs: My other wurm artworks: The fall of RoseDragon Slime-y Chainsmith Spiderdeer Orpington Zoo

Most players are mistaken thinking that Chaos is one constant killing and plundering, fighting for your life 24/7. You couldnt be more wrong there. Maybe just 30% of all kingdoms population are able to fight / skilled for it. We have lots of peaceful and friendly folks all around, JK or MR, doesnt matter. Both kingdoms have their Knights who have found their passion in mastering Art of the War, as well as large number of crafters, builders, farmers and what else not. None kingdom can function without support of non-fighter player group. Even couple good masons can hold of 3 times larger attacking force just repairing their town walls, everyone have theirs own unique role in the kingdom. Do not be misled by rumors, you do not need to be Master at arms to play on chaos, to be a part of a kingdom. Kingdom is built by its People, and it wont stand on its own just with Fighters alone! We welcome any sort of players to give it a try and join our Kingdom, our community, our Family. You cant truly learn all the magic which this game have to offer You, if You haven't tried to be a part of a Kingdom. Be something else, be Someone else. Strive for new goals in this world we call Wurm.

Winter Crash A major accident occurred on a stretch of the Freedom Highway north-east of Dragon Fang Mountain this morning. Overnight a surprise snow storm hit the area making driving conditions extremely difficult. As commuters were making their way to their jobs along the icy road, a young lava spider darted into traffic, causing drivers to slam on their brakes. The resulting chain reaction created one of the largest fender benders in Wurm history. At least a dozen carts were involved in the bang up, and thankfully only a few minor injuries were reported. The lava spider was rushed to a local hospital where it is expected to recover in a couple of days. Sgtscum would like to remind all drivers out there to leave at least a two cart length distance between you and the cart in front of you when driving in the snow. Also, be sure to replace your summer horseshoes with a set of winter shoes, or even attach a set of chains for that extra bit of traction.

The 3 Legged Chicken Last week Nib and I were out for a country drive around Independence in our brand new two horse-power cart. A beautiful cherry red ride with WoA overdrive on both cylinders. We were cruising along at a comfortable 20 kms/h down the Freedom Highway when all of a sudden in the corner of my eye something blurred past us along the side of the road. I asked Nib if she happened to see something, but she replied that she didn't, and I never gave it a second thought. A couple of kilometers later, the exact same thing happened... a white blur shooting past us on the right hand side, along the shoulder of the road. This time Nib exclaimed that she had seen it too. So I got the whip out and cranked the cart up to full speed. Far in the distance we could see the object make a quick turn into a drive-way ahead of us. When we got to the driveway there was a pointing sign that read 'Blahsonson Farms'. We decided to pull in and see if anyone was around so we could ask if they knew anything about the mysterious white blur. A gentleman by the name of Blahsonson welcomed us pleasantly. Immediately we asked about the thing we both had seen. The man smiled and said, "yup, that there's one of the many chickens we breed here on the farm". He went on to tell us that, he liked chicken legs, his wife liked chicken legs, and their son liked chicken legs. The problem was that when they cooked chicken for dinner, only two of them would get a leg to eat. Over the years, he tried and tried to breed a three legged chicken so that each of them would get a leg at dinner, and that the blur we saw was in fact one of those three legged chickens. Well my jaw dropped on the spot, I could barely believe my ears...this was one amazing story. After a moment, I regained my composure and had to ask the farmer, "So, how do these three legged chickens taste?". The farmer looked me straight in the eye and said, "I wouldn't know, we've never been able to catch one to cook".
